Chapter One: My Journey to Contentment

Well Ladies, we are off and running, I hope, with the first week of our reading for "Calm my Anxious Heart"! I am very interested to hear your thoughts and wonder how this first segment has impacted your thinking and your heart. As you can see, there are two options: You can simply read the book chapter by chapter, or you can do it as a study, by following up on the questions at the end of each chapter. If you do the study, I suggest that you read the chapter through quickly, then go right to the questions as they will lead you back through the chapter(s) at a slower pace and give you opportunities to put into practice what you are learning. If you have any trouble commenting, it's probably because you don't have a google account, which is quick and easy to sign up for. Let us know what you are finding in the way of treasures for your heart as you begin this excellent study. Feel free to comment at any time!

  2. I am very sorry to say that I feel like being a stay at home mom of three young kids--in a very blessed area where I do not see poverty or hunger when taking my kids to school or going to the grocery store-- I feel like I live in a bubble sometimes. And in that bubble of repeated activities that were not the norm in my past nor will be in even the near future (changing diapers, picking up spilled cups, getting the four-year old missed-aimed drips off the side of the toilet for the third time in one day, etc) I find myself being more of a Meredith of this book and not Ella. While this time is exhausting and stretching for different reasons, I somehow forget in this little bubble that the promises of the Bible are just as true now...and sometimes forget they still apply to me and to my short little piece of life that will not last long. I think there is a fine balance between mommy coordinating things to make a house run smoothly and mommy taking everything over and moving God out of His place. I have to say I many times while I am managing and controlling everyone, I go ahead and take over God's job of controlling us and our lives as well. It never works and it is never best. The book is right, He is the Blessed Controller and I need to let Him always have His rightful place in our lives...and certainly He must before contentment will ever happen in my heart! I am so glad to be reading this book with you all! Did anyone else have something about this first or second chapter hit them?
